History
The idea for Land Rover Wedding has come from a love of the Defender and a belief that others with the Defender close to their heart would love to have one deliver them to their wedding on time. My name is Jake and I grew up in sunny South Africa. I was first introduced to Land Rovers during my studies I took up the sport of canoeing and participated in the Dusi and Fish River canoe Marathons.
On moving to England where my aunt lived, I was soon shown photos and colour slides of her trek across Africa from England to Durban and back again in 1955-1956. It was so amazing that she had achieved this in the first model of Land Rover, the Series 1 Defender, and at a time when so few Europeans had even set foot in the wilder parts of Africa never mind crossed the continent from north to south. I have a few more photos from her expedition but have included a few favourites below that obviously show the Series 1 Land Rover that they used.
In 2004 I bought my first Defender after being further inspired by photos of a South Pole expedition, and to also have been driven around in one of these expedition vehicles on its return to England.
